Why it happened, in plain English

The filed reason names a serotype, Salmonella Typhimurium, which usually reflects a laboratory finding rather than a precautionary pull. The product is a nine-ingredient greens blend: chlorella, spirulina, wheatgrass, kale, broccoli, spinach, barley grass, moringa and parsley. The record does not say which ingredient carried the organism. A multi-botanical blend means nine incoming powders, each a dried plant that preserves rather than kills Salmonella, and blending spreads one contaminated ingredient through every unit of the batch.

The label says “manufactured for Superfoods, Inc.,” so a contract manufacturer blended and packed it. Two flavors, two recall numbers, nearly 800,000 units, and distribution to the United Kingdom as well as Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. The recall is marked completed. For a blend, a finished-product test can miss a low-level, unevenly distributed contaminant that ingredient-level testing would have caught.

Who else should care

This is one of at least eight moringa and greens powder Salmonella recalls we count between November 2025 and September 2026. The records do not say they share a supplier, and we do not claim that. What they share is the acceptance step: botanical powder cleared on the supplier’s certificate of analysis rather than a test the buyer ran.

Greens-blend brands are more exposed than single-herb brands because they carry the risk of every ingredient in the formula. Check: whether each botanical ingredient in your blend, not only the finished product, has a per-lot Salmonella result you can produce.
