Why it happened, in plain English

The filed reason is possible Salmonella contamination of a greens capsule whose main ingredient is moringa. Like the other moringa recalls this year, the likely path is a contaminated dried botanical accepted on the supplier’s certificate and encapsulated without a kill step. The record does not say which supplier or lot.

Five weeks later the same firm recalled a second moringa product (see the firm’s record below). Two recalls of the same ingredient at one firm point at the ingredient source and the acceptance process, not at a single bad batch.

Who else should care

Any supplement brand selling greens or moringa blends, especially those sourcing from the same bulk suppliers that serve the New York metro contract-manufacturing cluster. The firm also carries a 2018 FDA warning letter, which makes it a repeat name in FDA’s files.

Check: do you test incoming moringa or greens powder yourself, per lot, or accept the COA? And if a supplier’s other customer recalls, would you hear about it?

This firm's record

Total Nutrition has two 2026 moringa recalls, May 22 and June 26, both Class I, both Salmonella. FDA also issued the firm a warning letter in July 2018.
